"These are testing times. It’s time to look out for each other, especially the ones who are less fortunate. Let's do our bit. I am supporting Shahid Afridi and Shahid Afridi Foundation in this noble initiative against Covid-19," tweeted out former cricketer Yuvraj Singh on Tuesday. He was followed by former spinner Harbhajan Singh, who too has sought funds for former Pakistani cricketer Afridi's foundation.
The appeals have raised a storm, with thousands trolling the Yuvraj-Harbhajan duo for raising funds for the foundation of a religious bigot who hates Hindus. "Horrified to know that Harbhajan & Yuvraj Singh - two respected cricketers of India - are seeking donations for Shahid Afridi. This Pakistani cricketer hates Hindus. He broke his TV because his girls were imitating Bhagwan Aarti," said Soumyadipta, a social media influencer.
Said Sonam Mahajan, "Remember, it’s not some random Islamic organization but Sindh Government's representatives that are refusing Hindus and Christians food during the Coronavirus lockdown in Pakistan. How can anyone appeal to donate to a country where bigotry is a state policy? Shame on Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh."
As someone put it, Yuvraj and Harbhajan deserve an award for Masters of Bad Timing.
