Trailer Review: Babu Bangaram

Published by rajeshe092eb6a68

Venkatesh is back as a Babu Bangaram and a Bobbili Raja rolled into one.  In a long time, the talented actor, whose intensity we have seen and thoroughly enjoyed in movies like 'Ganesh', 'Premante Idera', 'Gemini' and to an extent in 'Lakshmi', is seen in a light-veined-cum-angry-cop's role.  Director Maruthi, for sure, is here venturing into a genre he hasn't before.

Playing ACP Krishna, Venky is seen as a cop with a difference.  As he beats up a baddie, he feels funnily sorry for being violent.  As Venky says 'ayyo.. ayyoo', Bobbili Raja-style, the quirk is there for all to see.  With so much of 'jali' (sympathy) in his DNA, will the ACP ever turn a 'non-veggie'?

Yes, he does.  "Tiger veg thinte vetakaranga choosaru.  Non-veg lo digindi ra (You mocked at the tiger when it was a vegetarian.  But it has now turned a non-veggie)," the hero thunders.

Once again, Venky as a lover boy is back wooing his dream girl, played by Nayanatara.  As Prudhviraj and Vennela Kishore as his sidekicks, Venky's affair with Nayan is surely going to be a laugh riot.  Lines like "Nenu propose chesi konni yugalu aipoindi" also hint that the hero's frustration is invoked to a comedic effect.  Also seen are Prabhas Sreenu and Posani Krishna Murali, among others.

Get ready for Venky to lock horns with the 'Mirchi' villain – Sampath Raj, who seems to be playing the heroine's elder.  The fight-to-finish, Maruthi-style, can be very curious.
