Trisha Responds Strongly After R. Parthiban’s Remark at Chennai Event

A comment made by Tamil actor-director R. Parthiban about actress Trisha Krishnan at a recent awards function in Chennai has stirred controversy and triggered strong reactions on social media. The remark quickly drew criticism, with Trisha responding firmly online, after which Parthiban issued a message expressing regret.

The incident occurred during an awards ceremony when Parthiban was invited to talk about some of the actors he had worked with in the past. As Trisha’s image appeared on the screen, he remarked that “this Kundavai should be asked to sit at home for some time.”

“Kundavai” is the character portrayed by Trisha in Mani Ratnam’s epic film “Ponniyin Selvan.” Parthiban was also part of the film’s cast. However, the statement created a stir as many viewers felt the comment carried an indirect reference to the ongoing rumours surrounding Trisha and actor Vijay.

The speculation intensified recently after Vijay and Trisha were seen attending a wedding event together, which drew attention because Vijay’s reported divorce proceedings with his wife Sangeeta Sornalingam are said to be underway.

Soon after the remark started circulating online, Trisha reacted strongly on social media, calling out the comment and expressing her displeasure. With criticism mounting, Parthiban later posted a clarification stating that his remark had been misunderstood and that he regretted the situation.

“It has gone all wrong. Nothing but I regret over this,” Parthiban wrote.

Meanwhile, on the work front, R. Parthiban is set to appear in “Ustaad Bhagat Singh,” the upcoming film starring Pawan Kalyan, which is scheduled to release in theatres on March 19, 2026.
