“This Role Is a Milestone in My Career”: Rajeev Kanakala on D/O Prasad Rao Kanabadutaledhu

The upcoming Telugu web series D/O Prasad Rao Kanabadutaledhu is all set to premiere exclusively on ZEE5 from February 27. Starring Rajeev Kanakala, Udaya Bhanu, Vasanthika, and Sriram Venkat in pivotal roles, the series is produced by K.V. Sriram under the South India Screens banner and directed by Krishna Poluru.

Ahead of its digital debut, the makers screened the first two episodes for media representatives, followed by a grand preview event attended by the cast and crew. Early responses suggest that the series delivers a compelling mix of emotional depth and suspense.

Rajeev Kanakala Calls It a Career Milestone

Speaking at the event, Rajeev Kanakala described the role as one of the most significant in his career. He noted that the character demanded emotional transitions and dialogue modulation unlike anything he has attempted before. According to him, the narrative maintains consistent tension while remaining emotionally grounded, ensuring viewers stay engaged until the very end.

Rajeev also revealed that the father-daughter theme resonated with him personally, making the project particularly meaningful.

A Story Built with Patience and Precision

Director Krishna Poluru shared that the concept evolved over nearly two years. After the success of Recce, he aimed to create a thriller rooted in emotional realism. The idea, he explained, was inspired by witnessing a father’s anxiety about his daughter’s safety — an emotional spark that gradually developed into a layered screenplay.

Krishna emphasized that while suspense drives the narrative, emotional sensitivity remains its backbone. He expressed gratitude to ZEE5 for backing the vision and allowing the story to take shape organically.

Performances and Technical Strength

Udaya Bhanu, who plays a police officer, said the role fulfilled a long-standing desire to portray a character that balances authority with vulnerability. She highlighted how several emotional moments in the story felt deeply personal.

Producer K.V. Sriram stated that the series will strongly connect with fathers and families, adding that each episode carries a high level of intensity. He praised Rajeev’s immersive performance and thanked ZEE5 Telugu for its continued support.

ZEE5 Telugu Senior Vice President Jayanth Raghavan remarked that father-centric narratives are relatively rare and that this emotional angle immediately stood out during the initial discussions.

Cinematographer Mahesh and dialogue writer Shruti were also credited for enhancing the narrative’s emotional and suspense-driven layers. Shruti noted that while the title suggests a father-centric story, the daughter’s perspective is equally powerful and adds balance to the storytelling.

Emotional Thriller with Family Resonance

Actress Vasanthika shared that the story’s emotional core makes it relatable to daughters and families alike. She described the experience of working with Rajeev Kanakala as enriching and said each character contributes meaningfully to the plot’s progression.

Blending a father’s silent anxieties with a daughter’s emotional journey, D/O Prasad Rao Kanabadutaledhu promises layered storytelling, strong performances, and tightly woven suspense. With its emotionally charged narrative and impactful episode endings, the series aims to leave a lasting impression on audiences.

The show will stream exclusively on ZEE5 starting February 27.
