The ‘Karakattakkaran’ Pair Reunites: The Touching Backstory of the Ramarajan-Kanaka Meeting!

Even though many onscreen pairs have come and gone in the Tamil film industry, the duo that remains unforgettable even after 35 years is the ‘Karakattakkaran’ pair, Ramarajan and Kanaka. With Ilaiyaraaja’s music, the Goundamani-Senthil comedy track, and the realistic acting of this lead pair, the film remains a “cult classic” to this day.

The “hot topic” in Kollywood right now is that this successful pair met in person yesterday after a very long hiatus.

Kanaka, the daughter of veteran actress Devika, debuted through ‘Karakattakkaran’ and rose to become a leading heroine. However, following her mother’s passing, she suffered immense mental distress and lived a life of seclusion, cut off from the outside world.

Following the recent passing of Kanaka’s father, Ramarajan had planned to meet her in person to offer his condolences. Here is what Ramarajan shared emotionally about the meeting:

“Kanaka’s life revolved around her mother. When Devika Amma passed away, I was at a shoot and couldn’t attend. Recently, her father also passed away. I felt guilty that I couldn’t go then either. So, I spoke to Kanaka and told her I would visit her home. But she said, ‘Sir, we are moving houses, so I will come to your house myself.'”

True to her word, Kanaka visited Ramarajan’s house for lunch yesterday. When Ramarajan asked, “What would you like to eat?”, Kanaka replied innocently, “Anything is fine.” Meeting her industry colleague after many years, Kanaka shared old memories. This meeting has since gone viral on social media, leaving many fans deeply moved.
