Thalapathy Vijay, one of the leading superstars of Tamil cinema is busy with his lineup of films and slowly involved in the ground work for his political entry. Meanwhile his son Jason Sanjay is making his directorial debut in a new movie produced by Lyca Productions.

Lyca announced the Jason Sanjay project by posting a video of a clip from 'Lion King' of a cub making its pawprints. Photos of the 23 year old signing his agreement in the presence of Lyca chairman Subaskaran and CEO GKM Tamilkumaran have gone viral.

The official statement read "We are beyond excited & proud to introduce Jason Sanjay in his Directorial Debut. We wish him a career filled with success & contentment carrying forward the legacy!"

It is well known that Jason Sanjay's grandfather S.A. Chandrasekharan was a leading filmmaker during the eighties and nineties. His father Vijay also used to assist his dad in the production as well as direction in their home banner. Jason on the other hand has studied at a prestigious film school abroad and has made a name for himself directing English language short films.

Lyca chairman Subaskaran stated "Lyca Productions has always strived with utmost faith on young and fresh minds, who we believe, are the game changers of any film industry. We are happy to announce that Mr. Jason Sanjay Vijay will direct our next project, which has a unique story premise and an engrossing experience. Jason has a perfect academic background in BA (Hons) Screenwriting in London followed by a Film Production Diploma at Toronto Film School. When he narrated the script, we were totally satisfied as it gave us a cinematic feel. It’s great to see that he has specialized in screenwriting and direction, but has understood the complete production, which we believe is an essential quality that every filmmaker should master. The film will have emerging stars in its cast, and we are in talks with top-league technicians from the industry to be a part of this project."

Vijay meanwhile is in Los Angeles, USA for the 3D VFX scan for his dual roles in 'Thalapathy 68' directed by Venkat Prabhu. His new movie 'Leo' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and costarring Trisha is slated for release on October 19th this year.
