Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu announced the Telangana government’s unwavering commitment to organizing the prestigious Gaddar Film Awards at a global standard. Speaking at the awards’ jury meeting, he emphasized that the state would extend complete support to make the ceremony a world-class affair.
The Deputy CM hailed the late revolutionary balladeer Gaddar as a cultural icon who embodied the spirit of Telangana.
“It is our fortune that a legend like Gaddar was born in Telangana—a voice that echoed the state’s heartbeat across the world,” he said. Recalling Gaddar’s contributions, he highlighted how the folk singer’s activism and padayatra in the Singareni region fueled the movement for a separate Telangana state.
Bhatti Vikramarka lamented the neglect of Telangana’s film sector over the past decade, noting that film awards functions were discontinued in 2011, leading to a lack of encouragement for artists.
“The Congress government earlier relocated the film industry to Hyderabad and provided incentives, even allocating houses for industry workers. Now, under CM Revanth Reddy’s leadership, we are determined to rejuvenate this sector,” he declared.
The state government has directed the organizing committee to design the Gaddar Film Awards in a way that captures international attention. “We want the world to talk about this event,” Bhatti Vikramarka asserted.
The Gaddar Film Awards are expected to be held later this year in Hyderabad, with further details to be announced soon.
