Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Tamil Nadu president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has strongly condemned DMK deputy general secretary Duraimurugan’s statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi didn’t even bother to tweet about the ‘Cyclone Gaja’ tragedy which struck Tamil Nadu in a huge manner a few weeks back.
Speaking at the review meeting of Public Accounts Committee meeting of the Legislative Assembly at Kanniyakumari, Duraimurugan said that he didn’t want to comment on the Govt.’s relief/rehabilitation work to the cyclone-affected victims. “The Prime Minister, who visited Kerala to conduct aerial survey of Kerala soon after the floods, didn’t even bother to visit Tamil Nadu or even record his feelings on his Twitter accounts,” he noted.
“Instead of visiting the State, he could have even left a message condemning the tragedy and offering solace to the victims and their families,” he added by concluding that this only showed the Prime Minister’s ‘care’ for the State. Taking on Duraimurugan, Tamilisai, one of the most vocal BJP leaders in the State, said that the DMK leadr was spreading misinformation.
“Though the PM was busy with his election campaigns, he didn’t forget to pass a special order sanctioning relief amount to Tamil Nadu besides registering his condolences on his Twitter account,” she said.
