Suriya’s Mega Treat for Summer Vacation: Official Announcement of ‘Karuppu’!

The crew of the film ‘Karuppu’ has officially announced its release date today, fulfilling the long-awaited expectations of Suriya fans. Directed by RJ Balaji and starring Suriya, the film is set to hit theaters worldwide on May 14, 2026.

Confirming the news on his social media page, director RJ Balaji posted, “#Karuppu – 14-05-2026. Blockbuster summer begins !!!” Having previously put an end to rumors suggesting an April 10th release, Balaji has now locked in this date to target the peak summer vacation season.

Expectations for the film are sky-high as Suriya and Trisha reunite on screen after nearly 20 years. In this movie, Suriya plays a lawyer named ‘Saravanan’ (which is also his birth name).

This marks Suriya’s 45th film following hits like Jai Bhim and Vikram. The technical team includes cinematographer G.K. Vishnu and music composer Sai Abhyankar. The cast also features prominent actors such as Yogi Babu, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, and Indrans in key roles.

With ‘Karuppu’ slated for a May release, Suriya’s next film ‘Viswanath & Sons’ (directed by Venky Atluri) is expected to arrive in July. Fans are thrilled at the prospect of seeing two Suriya films on the big screen within a span of just one month.
