Suriya 47 Kickstarts in Chennai: First Schedule Begins with Grand Pooja!

The much-awaited Suriya 47, directed by Malayalam blockbuster filmmaker Jithu Madhavan (of Aavesham fame), officially went on floors today (December 8, 2025) in Chennai!

The film marks Jithu Madhavan’s grand Tamil debut and features Suriya in a powerful role, reportedly as a tough police officer. Joining him are Nazriya Nazim, Premalu sensation Naslen K Gafoor, veteran actor Anandaraj, John Vijay, and others in key roles. The music will be composed by Sushin Shyam, who delivered the chart-topping soundtrack for Aavesham.

Produced by 2D Entertainment (Zhagaram Studios), the film had its traditional pooja ceremony this morning in Chennai. The event was graced by director Jithu Madhavan, Nazriya, Naslen, superstar Jyotika, actor Karthi, producers Rajsekar Pandian, S. R. Prakashbabu, and S. R. Prabhu. Soon after the pooja, the first schedule of shooting commenced.

Suriya is currently gearing up for the January 2026 release of Karuppu (directed by RJ Balaji), followed by a yet-to-be-titled project with Telugu director Venkii Atluri. With Suriya 47 now rolling, the actor’s lineup looks stronger than ever.
