DMK's working president M.K. Stalin has strongly condemned Union Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Anand Kumar Hegde's recent utterances wherein the Minister had spoken about the need to 'change' the Constitution so that the world 'secular' can be deleted from the Preamble.
Kumar, a BJP MP from Uttar Kannada in Karnataka, had recent spoken about the need to change the Constitution and said that this (changing the Constitution) was one of the main agendas of the ruling BJP at the Centre. He had in particular made a reference to delete the world 'secular' from the Preamble as the word is often misinterpreted and misunderstood by many to suit their conveniences.
Tweeting on his Twitter account, Stalin said that the Minister's comments were not in conformity with his stature as a Union Minister."Hegde's comments are complete betrayal of his role as a Minister of the Union Cabinet. He had also violated Constitutional provisions. Instead of condemning his speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi should axe Hegde from the Cabinet," Stalin opined.
"Hegde's speech and comments are not only against the Constitution but against Dr. Ambedkar, the 'architect' of the Constitution which governs us," Stalin added.
