Ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli was the special guest at the grand pre-release event of Junior, where he heaped praise on the cast and crew for transforming what started as a small film into a large-scale project. The event, held ahead of the film’s theatrical release on July 18, was a star-studded affair filled with excitement and energy.
Addressing the gathering, Rajamouli began by recalling his initial impression of the film. He said that when producer Sai Korrapati first started working on Junior, he thought it was a small film with a good story. However, as names like Sreeleela, Genelia, Ravichandran, Devi Sri Prasad, Senthil Kumar, and Peter Hein joined the project, it grew in scale and vision. Rajamouli remarked that the film now has the look and feel of a big-ticket entertainer.
He noted that the film’s massive release in over 1000 screens was a direct result of the growing interest among audiences. “That kind of reach only comes when there’s real curiosity among the audience. Junior has successfully created that first-day buzz, which is a big achievement,” he said, while congratulating producer Sai Korrapati for his efforts in bringing the film to this level.
Rajamouli had special praise for Genelia Deshmukh, who makes her comeback with Junior after over a decade. “She looks exactly the same as she did back then. I believe cinematographer Senthil will present a new version of Genelia that audiences haven’t seen before,” he shared.
Speaking about the music, Rajamouli lauded Devi Sri Prasad for once again elevating the film with his score. “He always enhances the emotional and entertainment quotient with his music. There’s no need to explain how viral ‘Vairala Vayyari’ has become — that song alone created a strong buzz for the movie,” he added.
He also praised Senthil Kumar, calling him one of the best technicians in the industry. “He’s like a family member. He never compromises, and he won’t let the director compromise either. That’s why his work stands out. He’s a major asset to this film,” Rajamouli said.
On Peter Hein, the film’s action choreographer, Rajamouli described him as a “crazy man with an unstoppable drive to do better.” He added, “Peter always wants to go a step further and pushes himself beyond limits. He works with incredible passion.”
Rajamouli also had words of encouragement for lead actor Kireeti Reddy, saying, “When Peter and Senthil — two of the industry’s top technicians — say a newcomer is doing well, there can’t be a bigger compliment. Their praise shows Kireeti has performed exceptionally, and I’m sure this film will take him to the next level.”
He called Sreeleela an amazing dancer with great screen presence, and predicted she too would rise to even greater heights in her career. Rajamouli also acknowledged producer Radha Krishna, who has been working on Junior for over three years. “His dedication to this project is truly commendable. This film will definitely earn him the success he deserves,” he said.
Concluding his speech, Rajamouli urged the audience to experience Junior in theatres. “This is a complete paisa vasool entertainer. Don’t miss it when it hits screens on July 18,” he said, extending his best wishes to the entire team.
