Team Sri Lanka has been in the news for negative reasons. Last week, its 31-year-old Danushka Gunatilaka was arrested on charges of rape in Sydney. It’s alleged that he had met his victim via a dating app. After matching with her and chatting with her for 14 days, he showed interest in meeting her. When they planned a hook-up in a hotel room, the cricketer allegedly refused to wear a condom. He later allegedly choked the victim. Police investigation in Australia is underway.
Then, there are reports that the Sri Lankan Cricket Board is going to probe “alleged misconduct by its players and officials during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.” If any player is found to have committed a wrongdoing, stern disciplinary action will be taken. Even for negligence, both players and officials will be held accountable.
Latest, various reports emerging from Sri Lanka say that its cricketers attended as many as 16 parties during the ongoing World Cup. Did they fail to make it to the semis because of a wild party-going spree?
