Soori’s transition from comedian to action hero has been remarkably successful. His latest film, “Garudan,” recently surpassed 50 crores in global box office collections. Impressively, his debut as a lead in Vetrimaaran’s ‘Viduthalai’ also achieved a similar milestone, grossing around 50 crores worldwide.
Soori has made history as the first comedy actor in Indian cinema to achieve consecutive 50 crore films with his first two movies as a lead hero. “Garudan,” a rural action drama, features Soori alongside Sasikumar, Unni Mukundan, Sshivada, Roshni Haripriyan, Mime Gopi, and others. Directed by Durai Senthilkumar, the film is slated for a digital premiere on three major streaming platforms.
“Garudan” is set to stream on Amazon Prime, Simply South and Tentkotta from July 3rd. The story follows Sokkan, a trusted confidante of two childhood friends, Aadhi and Karuna, whose loyalty is changed by a dynamic between betrayal and survival. The film has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography handled by Arthur A. Wilson, and editing by Pradeep E. Ragav.
