Due to the sudden spike in the spread of the Omicron variant, it looks like the fans of Morbius have a wait a bit longer to enjoy the film on big screens. According to the latest reports, 'Morbius' that was scheduled to release in theatres on January 28, has been postponed to April 2022. The movie was earlier scheduled to release on 31 July 2020, then 19 March 2021, then 8 October 2021, then 21 January 2022 and later on 28 January 2022.
In the film, Leto will be essaying the role of Michael Morbius, a Nobel Prize-winning biochemist who tries to cure a rare blood disease using an experimental treatment that combines electroshock therapy and bats. However, the results turn out to be catastrophic and he developed vampiric qualities.
In the comics, Morbius: The Living Vampire battled with Spider-Man on numerous occasions but over time becomes a heroic figure. The character was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane and first appeared in the 'Amazing Spider-Man' comics in 1971.
Directed by Daniel Espinosa and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the movie features Jared Leto in the lead essaying the role of Dr Michael Morbius. Other popular cast members of the film will include Matt Smith as Loxias Crown, Jared Harris as a professor and Morbius' mentor, Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft, Al Madrigal as Alberto Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson as Simon Stroud, an FBI agent hunting Morbius, among others.
