Song Review: What The F (‘Geetha Govindam’)

‘What The F’ is a bundle of banalities.  Since time immemorial (not literally, though), our directors have forced lyricists to comically twist legends from epics like Ramayana and Mahabharatha and this song is no different.  Srimani’s lyrics, as mouthed by an ‘all-knowing’ frustrated male, hypothetically speak of Sita and Savitri, an idea that is intrinsically crass.

Vijay Deverakonda struggles to raise the bar in a song conceived to be a rehash (a blatantly inferior one at that) of Anirudh-Dhanush’s ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’.  Gopi Sundar’s music is so below-par that it has even traces of an Anup Rubens musical.

The songs of ‘Geetha Govindam’ are being released, one single at a time, on Aditya Music.  Directed by Parusuram, it stars Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead.  Its full audio will be out on July 29 and the movie, on August 15.
