Marking World Youth Skills Day on Wednesday, Narendra Modi called for not just the skilling of youths but also their re-skilling and up-skilling.
The Prime Minister said that the mantra is essential in the times of Covid-19 pandemic "when businesses and markets are changing so fast" and are struggling "to stay relevant."
Saying that knowledge and skill are two different things, Modi added, "You can read in books and watch on the Internet how to ride a cycle. It would give you knowledge, but it doesn't guarantee you will be able to ride a cycle. To actually ride a cycle, you need skill."
"In these times, the work culture, the nature of jobs, etc. have undergone a change. The ever-changing new technology has also been affected, but youngsters are gaining new skills these days," Modi said, as quoted by ANI.
