Recently in an interview, SJ Suryah, celebrating his 56th birthday on July 20, 2024, revealed his experience working with Dhanush on the film "Raayan". Drawing comparisons to the "Wolf of Wall Street," he described his persona in "Raayan" as that of the "Wolf of Royapuram".
Unlike the thorough dubbing needed for "Mark Antony," Suryah said his dubbing for "Raayan" took just one day. As the director, he clarified, Dhanush demanded more emotive performances. Regarding Dhanush's directing approach, Suryah pointed out that he involves himself with lighting, set design, and general aesthetics and is exact about every element in a frame.
Apart from "Raayan," SJ Suryah most famously appeared as the primary antagonist in Shankar's "Indian 2," Kamal Haasan. There are rumors he might be more important in the follow-up, "Indian 3."
The creators of Nani's "Saripodhaa Sanivaaram" unveiled a unique glimpse called "Not A Teaser," with a voice-over by the main actor tying Suryah's character to the Hindu mythological figure Narakasura in honor of Suryah's birthday.
Suryah also has important parts in forthcoming movies such as "Game Changer" with Ram Charan and "Love Insurance Corporation" with Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty.
Starring Dhanush in the protagonist role, "Raayan," marks his 50th film venture and second directing effort following " Pa Pandi." Set to premiere on July 26, the movie chronicles the life of a modest North Chennai man seeking retribution against those who mistreated his family. Among other important roles are those of Prakash Raj, Selvaraghavan, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali.
