Simbu has had a great year so far having delivered 'Maanaadu' directed by Venkat Prabhu, his career best film at the box office. He followed it up with Gautham Vasudev Menon's 'Vendhu Thaninthathu Kaadu' for which his portrayal of the rise of a gangster won allround praise.

GVM and producer Ishari Ganesh officially announced at the film's success meet that 'Vendhu Thaninthathu Kaadu 2' is happening and novelist Jeyamohan is already penning the script. Now the hot buzz in Kollywood is that since it would take almost a year for the screenplay to be completed the team has taken a new decision.

According to sources Simbu, GVM and Ishari Ganesh have decided to film 'Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya 2' first because the script is already finalised for that. Talks are on with Trisha who starred in the original as well to reprise her role and there will also be one more heroine. It is said that the official announcement will be made pretty soon regarding this exciting development.

Simbu recently wrapped up the shooting of his 'Pathu Thala' directed by Obelin N Krishna and produced by Studio Green with music by A.R. Rahman. The film also has Gautham Karthik, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalaiyarasan and Gautham Vasudev Menon in the cast.
