If the teaser for 'Shyam Singha Roy’ was more about director Rahul Sankrityan's recreation of the 1970s Bengal and the Devadasi system in the context of a crusade by the hero, the trailer for the film is more contemporary and diverse.
The first half of the trailer is about Nani's Vasu, who is an ex-techie and a budding filmmaker. Krithi Shetty is seen as a Westernized woman who is into smoking as well. After the element of Past Life Regression, Vasu realizes that he was a social reformer named Shyam Singha Roy in his past life. The trailer takes a 180-degree turn to take us back to his previous birth and the crusade he waged for his love interest, played by Sai Pallavi.
Nani has promised that the film will be like a dessert in a month of sumptuous releases. He has played an action-driven social reformer for the first time.
Producer Venkat Boyanapalli of Niharika Entertainments is a debutant who has collaborated with music director Mickey J Meyer, cinematographer Sanu John Varghese and production designer Avinash Kolla.
The film has song choreography by Kruti Mahesh and the budding choreographer Yash. Also featuring Rahul Ravindran, Murali Sharma and Abhinav Gomatam, 'SSR' will hit the silver screens in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam on December 24.
