A female Engineering student was a victim of blackmail and harassment for one year, in Krishna district's Agiripalli. It all started with a male senior inviting her over to a hotel for a birthday party in February 2017. The unsuspecting female junior went there, only to find that none was there in the hotel room. She sensed something fishy but before she could run away, the victim was overpowered and gang-raped.

One of the accused filmed the rape. He started using the video as a blackmail tool to seek sexual favours from the poor girl. This went on and on for months. Three students have been accused in the gangrape: Vamshi, Siva Reddy, and Praveen.

Didn't the girl do anything to extricate herself from the situation? She approached her parents, who then went to the college management. The college's principal, instead of advising legal options, made the male students apologize to the victim and delete the video.

But Praveen, who was in possession of the video, had other plans. He once again started blackmailing the girl, asking her to give him Rs. 10 lakhs. This was his undoing. The girl's parents this time went to the police to lodge a complaint against the offender. Praveen is now in police custody.
