Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet, on Monday said that he is devastated to see the worsening Covid-19 crisis in India. Taking to social media, the renowned industry leader delcared that his company and its employees will be providing a huge donation.
“Google & Googlers are providing Rs 135 Crore in funding to Give India (a donation platform) and UNICEF for medical supplies, orgs supporting high-risk communities, and grants to help spread critical information,” he wrote on Twitter.
In a blog post, Pichai said that GiveIndia will provide cash assistance to families hit hardest by the crisis to help with their everyday expenses. On the other hand, UNICEF will help get urgent medical supplies, including oxygen and testing equipment, to where it’s needed most in India.
He added that Google is increasing its support with an additional Rs 112 Cr in Ad Grants to local health authorities and nonprofits for more language coverage options.
