Santhanam to play the villain for the first time in his career against this megastar?

Santhanam who reigned as the number one comedian in Tamil cinema a decade back chose to play only lead roles and is busy with several projects.  Even though he was approached for several films to once again play comedy and parallel lead roles he refused.

However recently it was reported that Santa has agreed to do a parallel lead in Ajith Kumar’s upcoming ‘AK 62’ directed by Vignesh Shivan.  It is said that Santhanam who shares a good rapport with Ajith agreed for the role because of the mass hero.  Lyca Productions who are bankrolling the film has also reportedly offerred Santhanam double the salary he normally gets when playing the lead role.

Reports have now emerged that Santhanam will be playing a character with a mix of comedy and negative shades in ‘AK 62’.  Sources say that the role will be on the lines of what Parthiban played in Vignesh Shivan’s ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’.  We will have to wait for the official confirmation on this one.  

‘AK 62’ will go on floors in Februay and is expected to release on Ayudha Pooja or Diwali later this year.  Arvind Swamy is said to be a part of the cast while talks are on with both Nayanthara and Keerthy Suresh for the female lead.

Santhanam’s next film is ‘Kick’ directed by popular Kannada filmmaker Prashanthraj in which Tanya Hope is the leading lady.  He is also in talks to play the lead in a few more projects that will be announced soon.
