Sampoornesh Babu on ‘The Paradise’: “My Character Will Be More Amazing Than Paradise Biryani”

Natural Star Nani’s highly anticipated Pan-India period action entertainer ‘The Paradise’ is gearing up for a grand worldwide release on September 24. Directed by Srikanth Odela and produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the SLV Cinemas banner, the film has already created strong buzz with its songs, glimpse and teaser.

Ahead of the release, actor Sampoornesh Babu, who plays a key role in the film, interacted with the media and opened up about his character, working with Nani and Srikanth Odela, his preparation for the role and his experience of being part of such a large-scale production.

Sampoornesh Babu to Surprise Audiences as ‘Biryani’

Sampoornesh Babu revealed that he received a call from director Srikanth Odela’s team and was later introduced to the ‘Biryani’ character. He said the role immediately caught his attention as it was unlike anything he had played before.

According to the actor, Biryani is a very serious character and is completely different from the roles he has portrayed throughout his career. He also revealed that he plays Nani’s best friend in the film and that his character remains an important part of the story throughout.

“I Wish I Had Got a Role Like This Three Years Ago”

Speaking about moving from comedy-oriented roles to a serious character, Sampoornesh Babu said that receiving such an opportunity earlier in his career could have helped him avoid some of the mistakes he made.

He expressed his happiness about working with both Nani and Srikanth Odela and said that The Paradise is the biggest film he has worked on so far. The actor added that the filmmakers placed immense trust in him and he made every effort to live up to their expectations.

Praises Nani’s Dedication

Sampoornesh Babu also spoke warmly about his experience of working with Nani. He said Nani made him feel extremely comfortable on the sets, which helped him perform confidently.

“This is the first time I have worked for so many days on such a big film. I learned many things on the sets. Nani’s dedication is amazing. Whenever I performed well, he appreciated me,” the actor said.

Sai Rajesh Helped Bring the Opportunity

Sampoornesh Babu confirmed that filmmaker Sai Rajesh played a role in bringing the opportunity to him. He revealed that Sai Rajesh personally called him and informed him that the team from Srikanth Odela’s office would contact him.

He also mentioned that Sai Rajesh and Srikanth Odela share a close friendship.

“Working With Mohan Babu Was a Dream Come True”

The actor expressed his happiness about sharing screen space with veteran actor Mohan Babu. Sampoornesh Babu had previously worked under Mohan Babu’s banner, but said he had been waiting for an opportunity to act alongside him.

When he learned that The Paradise would feature scenes involving both of them, he was extremely excited.

He described the opportunity as a long-cherished dream coming true.

Sampoornesh Babu Underwent Physical Transformation

For his role in The Paradise, Sampoornesh Babu was asked to lose weight. He also grew his hair and beard as required for the character.

The actor said he followed whatever instructions were given by director Srikanth Odela to ensure that his look and character matched the filmmaker’s vision.

Interestingly, Sampoornesh Babu revealed that he decided not to take up any other film until the shooting of The Paradise was completed. Even though he received a few offers during this period, he chose to wait and finish the project first.

When asked about the nature of his character, Sampoornesh Babu gave an interesting response with a touch of humour.

He said, “Just like Paradise Biryani is amazing, the film will be equally amazing. My character will be even more amazing than that. You will see what it is like on September 24.”

He further praised Srikanth Odela for designing every character with great clarity. According to him, every character and every scene in the film has importance, while the movie features strong emotions and spectacular action.

Praises the Songs and Production

Sampoornesh Babu also highlighted the response to the songs ‘Aaya Sher’ and ‘Yesha Nagula Katta’, saying that both songs have received an excellent response and can be heard everywhere.

He praised producer Sudhakar Cherukuri for making the team feel comfortable and mounting the film on a grand scale. He particularly appreciated the world-building and the effort that has gone into creating the film’s unique setting.

The actor also revealed that he is extremely happy with his remuneration for the project, stating that he received his highest remuneration so far for The Paradise.

Talking about his upcoming projects, Sampoornesh Babu said that he wants to explore different and challenging characters rather than sticking to a particular image.

He also revealed that an interesting new project is expected to be announced soon.
