SA Chandrasekhar, Thalapathy Vijay's father, is a respected filmmaker and actor in Tamil cinema. He delivered many blockbusters as a director in the 80s and 90s before turning into a character artist. Talking at a film event, he indirectly criticised Thalapathy Vijay's industry hit 'Leo' yesterday.
SAC spoke at the first look launch of the Vemal starrer 'Desingu Raja 2' on Saturday. He appreciated director AR Murugadoss's writing prowess in 'Thuppakki' during his speech and took a dig at Lokesh Kanagaraj's work in 'Leo' without actually mentioning the film. A video of the same is spreading like wildfire on the internet.
Chandrasekhar said that he called the director of a movie recently after watching it and appreciated the maker for the first half. However, he then revealed conveying to him that the second half was not good. He said that the director concluded the call upon hearing this and never called him back. SAC mentioned that the film had scenes of a father killing his children for religious sacrifice.
It is evident that the veteran filmmaker criticised director Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Leo' starring Thalapathy Vijay. SAC remarked that modern directors are not concentrating on the story and riding on the actors' stardom. Notably, 'Leo' earned an exceptional welcome from the audience theatrically despite the mixed reviews. The film grossed more than Rs 600 crores worldwide.
