‘Red Zone’: This self-shot lockdown comedy is about a spirited film crew

How about a lockdown film?  A Hindi-language comedy at that?  Director Seshu KMR has come up with just that.  Titled ‘Red Zone’, its recently-released trailer gives away the nature of the comedy in store.  From characters who speak naturally to a lingo that is relatable, this one seems to have got everything in it.

What is interesting is that the film is not a directed one in the conventional sense of the term.  “First and foremost, it is not actually directed. Secondly, it doesn’t follow the regular convention of a Director of Photography canning the scenes,” the makers say.

How then was the film shot?  “The whole film was assembled remotely across various cities such as Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and Chennai. The artistes themselves recorded the scenes at their respective residences.  This is a self-shot entertainer,” the makers add.

Touted by the makers to be an experimental flick, the story revolves around the life of a Hyderabadi film crew. Just as they hope to kickstart their first project, lockdown hits them hard.  “The film entails the journey of each character and their emotional transitions as the story progresses,” director  Seshu KMR says.

Mumbai-based Gaurav-Pratham duo has composed the music.  “The theme song, released recently, is slowly becoming popular,” the makers say, expressing delight over the reception to the film’s trailer as well.

Starring Aziz Naser, Ali Reza, Akbar Bin Tabar, Sufi Khan, Shiva Mamidi, Hussain Raza and others, this one has lyrics by Yukti.
