Rashmika’s new project The Girlfriend launched with a traditional ceremony

Actor and director Rahul Ravindran, known for his directorial ventures Chi La Sow and Manmadhudu 2, has embarked on his third film, titled “The Girlfriend,” featuring Rashmika Mandanna in the lead role. The film, jointly produced by Geetha Arts, Mass Movie Makers, and Dheeraj Entertainment, was officially announced and marked the commencement of its journey with a pooja ceremony.

The launch event saw the presence of producers Vidya Koppineedi and Dheeraj Mogilineni, along with esteemed directors such as Sai Rajesh, Pavan Sadineni, Karuna Kumar, and Maruthi. Allu Aravind, a veteran producer, played a significant role by sounding the clapboard and presenting the script to Rahul Ravindran.

With Rashmika Mandanna, a national sensation and exceptional performer, taking on the lead role, the project is in the capable hands of the talented filmmaker Rahul Ravindran. Known for her compelling performances, Rashmika is expected to deliver another groundbreaking act in this women-centric film.

The team unveiled a sneak peek that promises a unique cinematic experience for audiences of all ages. Titled “The Girlfriend,” the film’s grand pooja ceremony took place on the auspicious occasion of Karthika Pournami.

Ace producer Allu Aravind clapped for the opening scene, blockbuster director switched on the camera, and sensational director Sai Rajesh directed the first shot. Adivi Sesh, along with directors VI Anand and Pavan Sadineni, graced the ceremony and extended their best wishes to the team.

The principal photography of the film, set to commence soon, will feature music by Hesham Abdul Wahab, known for scoring music in films like Kushi, Spark, and the upcoming Nani starrer Hi Nanna. Krishnan Vasant will handle the cinematography, with S Ramakrishna and Monika Nigotre in charge of production design. Shravya Varma will serve as the costume designer.

Rashmika, speaking about the project during the first look launch a few weeks ago, expressed, “The world is full of great love stories. But there are those few love stories that haven’t been heard or seen before. And ‘The Girlfriend’ is one such.” The actress, with upcoming releases like Animal, Chaava, D51, Rainbow, and Pushpa 2, is anticipated to bring a fresh perspective to this intriguing love story.

In addition to directing “The Girlfriend,” Rahul Ravindran is set to play a pivotal role in Mahesh Babu’s Sankranthi 2024 release “Guntur Kaaram,” directed by Trivikram. Furthermore, he is making his Hindi film debut with Alia Bhatt’s next project, “Jigra,” directed by Vasan Bala, and was also part of the multilingual film “The Great Indian Kitchen” alongside Aishwarya Rajesh earlier this year.
