Ramayan Sita Dipika Chikhlia takes exception on Adipurush Ravan.Dipika Chikhlia, known for her iconic role as Sita in the 1987 television series "Ramayan," has expressed deep concern over the impact of the 2023 film "Adipurush" on children.
In an interview with IndiaToday.in, Chikhlia voiced her displeasure over the film's portrayal of characters from the Ramayana, particularly the depiction of Ravana, Sita, and the overall narrative.
"Every time what happens is, a child, who is five years old or eight years old who has watched âAdipurushâ with his parents - when he grows up, his image will be all about what was there in âAdipurushâ. That is damaging your future. That bothers me, more than anything else," she said.
Chikhlia emphasized the lack of explanation for children about the discrepancies between the film's portrayal and the actual epic, leading to potential confusion and misconceptions. "At that point of time, your parents are not going to explain that Ravan wasnât like this. He didnât eat non-vegetarian food, Sita wasnât like this. Nobody's explaining that to the child. They're just coming back and absolutely shocked. But that child has been affected and has been damaged, and it's not going to go back," she added.
Chikhlia, who has seamlessly transitioned from acting to politics, highlighted how her diverse experiences have shaped her perspective and decision-making abilities. "You grow as a person and your perspective as a person gets very rich with different kinds of people you meet and experiences that you have. That adds up to who you become. That's when you take the right decisions," she said.
She further explained how her experiences in business, politics, and acting have given her a 360-degree understanding of various fields, allowing her to make informed decisions. "If you are just an actor, you have a very limited sense of what to do. But when you have business background, political background, you have an experience which is almost 360-degree. That makes you who you are and that helps you with your decision-making," she concluded.
Chikhlia currently stars in her self-produced daily soap, "Dhartiputra Nandini," showcasing her continued passion for storytelling and entertainment.
