Rajinikanth’s 50 Years of Cinematic Achievement: Honoured with ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at IFFI 2025 in Goa!

Superstar Rajinikanth, adored as the “Super Star” across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and several other language film industries, is being bestowed with a special recognition for his illustrious 50-year journey in cinema. At the closing ceremony of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025, he will be honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. The festival took place in Goa from November 20 to 28.
Starting his career in 1975 with a small role in K. Balachander’s Apoorva Raagangal (released as Moondru Mudichu in Tamil), Rajinikanth has risen to become a global icon with an unparalleled fan following. Through iconic films such as Moondru Mudichu, Aval Oru Thodarkathai, Billa, Sivaji, Enthiran (Robot), and 2.0, his unique style, electrifying screen presence, dance, and socially impactful characters have ruled the silver screen. This award stands as a fitting tribute to his five-decade-long journey that has taken Tamil cinema to the world stage.
At the closing ceremony of IFFI, Telugu superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna is also being honoured for completing 50 glorious years in cinema. The festival showcased over 240 films from 81 countries, including 13 world premieres and 5 international premieres. Japan was declared the ‘Country of Focus’, with special sessions dedicated to its cinema. Centenary celebrations of Indian cinematic legends such as Guru Dutt, Ritwik Ghatak, and P. Bhanumathi were also part of the festivities.Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, stated, “IFFI 2025 celebrates diverse global voices as well as the richness of Indian regional cinema. It serves as a platform for emerging talent.”Rajinikanth’s honour is not just a moment of pride for his millions of fans but also a glorious new chapter in the legacy of Indian cinema. The Superstar’s upcoming films, including Jailer 2 and Coolie, continue to generate massive excitement among audiences.
