Suriya's latest film 'Jai Bhim' has created massive waves not only as one of the best cinematic achievements in Tamil cinema but also for giving rise to numerous debates on casteism, police brutality and human rights. Most importantly the film has shed light on the Irular tribes who have been marginalised by the society for centuries.
'Jai Bhim' deals with a pregnant woman Sengeni belonging to the Irular tribe fighting for justice for the false accusation and lockup death of her husband Rajakannu. Suriya appears as Chandru the lawyer who takes up the case. The story is based on real life with a few cinematic liberties and the original wife's name is Parvathi who resides in poverty in a hut.
'Jai Bhim' director T.G. Gnanavel with his powerful depiction of the tale has raised awareness of the fringe people all over India and abroad through streaming it on Amazon Prime Video. The media has now located Parvathi and her sad state has touched one and all. Her version of the brutality and nighmarish horror she experienced far exceeds even what is shown on the screen.
Actor-director Raghava Lawrence who is known for his generous heart and quick action to help people in need has done it again. He has lauded 'Jai Bhim' team and has announced that he will be gifting a house to Parvathi and her family. Social media is abuzz with congratulatory messages to Lawrence who has donated in excess of five crores rupees to help frontline workers, transgenders and sanitary workers among others during the coronovirus pandemic.
very well received and was hailed by many political personalities including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mukha Stalin and many film personalities including world leader Kamal Haasan.
At this point it is known that the film was adapted from the real story and that the real wife of Rasakkannu who is coming in this film is Parvathi and they are currently living.
In this situation, Parvathy, the wife of Rajakannu, who was attacked and tortured by the police, has come forward to help Raghava Lawrence. I am very saddened to know the present condition of Rasakannu's wife Parvathi Ammal who was tortured and killed for a crime she did not commit. I promise that Parvathi Ammal will build a house for her at my own expense.
Raghava Lawrence has expressed his heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Surya, Jyotika and director Gnanavell for making 'Jaybeam' a masterpiece and for making 'Jaybeem' a masterpiece that made a horrific event 28 years ago the talk of Tamil Nadu today.
