Arriving in Lagos this morning, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex follow Prince Harry's recent visit to the UK for the Invictus Games' tenth anniversary. Harry was too busy to meet with King Charles, though.
Harry and Meghan are in Nigeria to increase support for the Invictus Games in that continent. Their busy schedule includes trips to schools, talks with wounded servicemen, and going to polo and basketball games, all of which lead up to an evening extravaganza.
Prince Harry attended a service at St Paul's Cathedral to commemorate the Invictus milestone while Charles threw a garden party at Buckingham Palace during his brief visit back in the UK.
Though there had been conjecture about a potential meeting, Harry's spokesman said that the King's hectic schedule prevented them from crossing paths.
Reports surfaced, meantime, of yet another apparent rejection: Prince William is expected to take over as colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps, Harry's former military outfit.
Remaining in Los Angeles, Meghan was with Harry when he arrived back at Heathrow Airport late on Thursday night. Interestingly, Meghan previously revealed on her podcast Archetypes that she is 43 percent Nigerian, a fact that Harry jokingly acknowledged during the 2023 Invictus Games opening ceremony.
The Invictus Games, which Harry started in 2014 to celebrate the tenacity of injured service people, are being celebrated by the royal couple on their current visit to Nigeria.
