Squid Game is a record-breaking South Korean survival thriller drama series created by Hwang Dong-hyuk for Netflix. It was released worldwide on September 17 and opened to huge critical acclaim and international attention. Now, it is revealed that a famous Tamil actor has been dubbed for a character in the Tamil version of the show.
Hwang had conceived of the idea for this series based on his own economic struggles early in life, as well as the class disparity in South Korea and capitalism. Though the director had initially written Squid Game in 2009, he couldn't find a production company to fund the idea until Netflix took an interest.
The script that was unable to get a producer did wonders on the streaming giant Netflix after the release. As of November 2021, it is Netflix's most-watched series outperforming the total viewership of Bridgerton. Squid Game was a standout, generating $891.1 million in impact value, which is around 41.7 times its budget of $21.4 million.
Indiaglitz had already broken to you that Squid Game is now dubbed and made available in the Indian regional languages Tamil and Telugu. Today, Netflix India South took to Twitter to reveal that veteran Tamil actor Nassar has voiced for the very important character 001 played by Young-Soo Oh. The streaming giant has shared a special video featurette from the dubbing sessions.
