We all know that the Ponniyin Selvan 2 audio and trailer launch event took place in Chennai last night. The big-ticket event has already grabbed the attention of millions. PS-2 is all set to hit the screens worldwide on April 28. Karthi, who stole the hearts of the masses through his Vandhiyathevan role, gave a memorable speech yesterday.
Karthi said, "Cinema is something that makes life beautiful. It is not available in all towns and in all countries. When I was abroad, an Iranian director asked me in surprise, 'Does everyone in India pay money to come to the theatre and watch movies?' So, the cinema is a treasure we have got. After the Corona pandemic, we all went to the theatre and watched the movies very happily."
"In that way, I would like to express my gratitude to all the fans who have supported Ponniyin Selvan in India, especially in Tamil cinema. It makes us very happy to think that this film is getting released in places where it has not been released before, just like the Chola flag flew everywhere. It was you who helped make such a feat possible," added the Kaithi actor.
Karthi continued, "I got a call from Mani Ratnam's office while I was shooting for 'Kaithi'. When I visited him in person, he asked whether I can play Vandhiyathevan in 'Ponniyin Selvan'. When I said I will do any character without thinking, he was silent. When I got into the car after talking to him, I felt like a hero in my mind. Shivaji Sir's verse also came to my mind. But in the first scene of this film, I went for several takes for the dialogue 'Thambi Vidu'. It was then that I understood the story told by Rajini sir in the PS1 audio launch."
"Kalki would have written several pages describing the scene where Vandhiyathevan meets Kundhavai for the first time. But Mani Sir visualized the scene in a few minutes. Then I realized that no one but Mani sir can make Ponniyin Selvan on big screens. I received many love letters after acting in 'Paiya'. Now, I get more messages on Instagram after playing Vandhiyathevan on PS1. There is a lot of love in this movie, love is what makes life beautiful, you can experience this love when you watch this movie," concluded the versatile actor.
