The Congress party’s fate now hangs in the air as election strategist Prashant Kishor has declined its offer to join the party. The Numero Uno strategist today said that the party’s offer was generous and yet he refused to join it.
“I declined the generous offer of the Congress to join the party as part of the Empowered Action Group and take responsibility for the elections. In my humble opinion, more than me the party needs leadership and collective will to fix the deep-rooted structural problems through transformational reforms,” PK wrote.
On his party, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala wrote, “Following a presentation and discussions with Prashant Kishor, Congress President has constituted an Empowered Action Group 2024 and invited him to join the party as part of the group with defined responsibility. He declined. We appreciate his efforts and suggestion given to the party.”
This has triggered a wave of speculations about the reason why he refused Rahul Gandhi’s offer. There are rumours that he wanted to extract more than what the Grand Old Party was ready to offer.
PK is next likely to work for the TRS. If it happens, BJP’s prospects will only become tough in 2023.
