‘Peranbum Perungobamum’ Gains Political Backing for Its Bold Stand on Caste Issues

The film “Peranbum Perungobamum” features Vijith Bachan, son of director Thangar Bachan, in the lead role. The movie also stars Shali Nivekas, Mime Gopi, Aruldoss, Logu, Subathra, Deepa, and Sai Vinoth. Music is composed by Ilaiyaraaja and it is directed by Sivaprakash. Released on the 5th of this month, director Thangar Bachan mentioned that the film can reach more people if it gets both matinee and evening shows in theatres.
Speaking about the movie, Thangar Bachan said that political leaders like Seeman (Naam Tamilar Katchi), Thol. Thirumavalavan (Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi), and Anbumani Ramadoss (Pattali Makkal Katchi) are encouraging their party members to watch the movie in theatres. He pointed out that it’s rare for leaders from different ideologies to come together in support of a film.
The movie focuses on the sensitive issue of caste-based untouchability. Thangar Bachan expressed disappointment that mainstream media ignored the film, despite its social message. He believes that support from the public and increased showtimes in cinemas can help the movie reach a wider audience, contributing to societal progress.
