"In response to Pakistan Air Force strikes on Wednesday morning, the Indian Air Force crossed the LoC. PAF shot down two Indian aircraft inside Pakistani airspace. One of the aircraft fell inside AJ&K while the other fell inside IOK. One Indian pilot arrested by troops on ground while two in the area." This tweet by Major General Asif Gafoor of Pakistan Army has started a new round of speculations.
As per analyst Shiv Aroor, this is a major claim. "There is no official word yet. Please wait before reacting. Pakistan does make big claims routinely. Let’s wait to see how true this is. If it is, we could be at war," he writes.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Pakistan Air Force fighter jets attempted to violate airspace at LoC Rajouri. "Initial information suggests they turned back after running into an IAF Combat Air Patrol (CAP) that's been on since early Wednesday," reported Shiv Aroor.
As per a news agency, "Pakistan Air Force's F-16 that violated Indian air space today was shot down in Indian retaliatory fire 3KM within Pakistan territory in Lam valley, Nowshera sector." As of now, no casualties have been reported.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today held a high-level meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, chief of RAW, Home Secretary and other officials.
