Director Ashwath Marimuthu recently shared a surprising update on Instagram that has taken social media by storm — a single job post for assistant directors has generated over 15,000 email applications.
Known for his blockbuster hit Dragon starring Pradeep Ranganathan, which grossed over ?100 crores, Ashwath is now gearing up for his next big project with actor Simbu. As pre-production begins, the director opened up applications for assistant director positions via social media — and the overwhelming response caught him off guard.
“The deadline for applications has ended. We’ve received more than 15,000 resumes,” Ashwath wrote in his Instagram post. “My team will review them and start the selection process soon.”
Initially, Ashwath had planned to hire just 10 assistant directors. But due to the massive response, he’s now decided to bring 20 new assistant directors on board — spread across his upcoming two films.
Ashwath also took a moment to address those tagging him on social media, saying: “I see all your messages and posts. Thanks for the enthusiasm!”
