It's known that Russia has claimed to have developed the world's first anti-coronavirus vaccine. Is the Indian government showing interest in it? The official word is out. Yes, the Modi government is already communicating with Russia.
"As far as Sputnik-5 vaccine is concerned, India and Russia are in communication. Some initial information has been shared," Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, Union Health Ministry, was on Tuesday quoted as saying by a Livemint report.
On August 11, Russian prez Vladimir Putin said that the country will be producing millions of doses of the vaccine month after month.
It's not like India is counting only on Russia. Domestic efforts are also on. "Three Covid-19 vaccine candidates are in the invention process. One of them has entered the third phase of the pre-clinical human trial," the Union Health Minister recently said.
