Actor Suriya whenever necessary and when issues are regarding education has not hesitated to voice his opinion and recently he posted a lengthy statement on Twitter when three students preparing NEET took their own lives due to pressure in Tamil Nadu.
Suriya heavily criticised the need for NEET exam by the central government to prepare students for medical studies. While most of the length of his letter was regarding the plight of the poor students the intense actor also criticized the judiciary stating "With the fear of life due to corona scare, the court which dispenses justice via video-conferencing orders students to fearlessly go and take exams."
While a majority of people supported Suriya's statement on social media a few judges took it as contempt of court and a case was filed. At the hearing today the High Court has ruled in favor of Suriya and has decided not to pursue a contempt of court case while calling his statement "Unecessary and Unwarranted".
