In a preterm delivery at the Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital, hospital staff handed over a newborn, presumed dead, to the parents; the baby boy was in fact alive.
The hospital staff had found no signs of life despite making countless attempts to revive him, and gave the ‘dead’ baby in a sealed pack, according to the family. Much to their surprise, the family found that the infant was alive and moving, when they opened the pack to see the boy’s face. An enquiry has been ordered into this apparent ‘lapse’ at the hospital.
