Netflix launched its South Indian Twitter account yesterday. And today it’s time for ‘Namma Stories – The South Anthem’, a song to celebrate the awesome content from our southern states.
Over the past few years, South Indian Media has produced content that has been well-received all over the world. There were many incredible films and television shows here. But unlike Bollywood, the southern industries weren't fortunate enough to get recognized for their works.
Interestingly, Global OTT platforms like Disney+Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video are beginning to recognize South Indian content. In recent times, Prime and Hotstar are making South Indian series which turned out to be great. And it is Netflix's turn to do so.
So now, Netflix dropped the song 'Namma Stories - The South Indian Anthem' through their new south Indian Twitter account. The song is recited by the rappers Arivu, Siri, Hanumankind, and Neeraj Madav in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam respectively. They highlighted the richness of the culture, society, art, content, and the brilliantly talented and legendary actors that come from the south.
“Get ready to drop some adipolis, vera levels, kirraks, and sakkaths because your screens are about to be set on Fire. Presenting Namma Stories – a celebration of stories from the south,” Netflix wrote after publishing the music video.
Kartik Shah has composed the music for ‘Namma Stories’ and also produced it. The music video has been directed by Akshay Sundher. Supari Studios is the production company behind it.
Netflix is dropping their second direct Tamil series Navarasa in August. More films and shows from the south are on their way. Stay tuned for more updates.
