A man from Madhya Pradesh, in an effort to commemorate his love for his wife, gifted her a life size replica of the Taj Mahal, with construction and stonework similar to the original monument.
The MP man, named Anand Chokse, a resident of Burhanpur, apparently revealed that the four bedroom house with a 29 feet high dome took three years to build and that the residence has towers like the Taj Mahal with the flooring of ‘Makrana’ marbles, which is the same kind of marble that was used in the Taj Mahal, brought from Rajasthan. As per reports, the luxurious residence has two bedrooms on the ground floor and two more bedrooms on the upper floor. Apart from that, the house also has a hall, a meditation room, a kitchen and a library.
While artists from West Bengal and Indore helped with the carving inside the house, the furniture was apparently prepared by artisans from Mumbai. The original monument was constructed by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his wife Mumtaz Mahal in 1632.
