Mohanlal’s Mega-Budget Film L367 Titled ‘Operation Ganga’ – Grand Evacuation Mission Drama Begins Shoot

The highly anticipated upcoming film starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has finally received its official title. Earlier referred to as L367, the film has been titled ‘Operation Ganga’. Written and directed by Vishnu Mohan, the movie is being produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies and is being mounted on a massive scale with a mega budget.

The title announcement has generated considerable excitement among Mohanlal’s fans and cinema lovers, particularly because the film is inspired by one of India’s most significant evacuation missions in recent history.

Based on India’s Historic Evacuation Mission

As the title suggests, ‘Operation Ganga’ is set against the backdrop of the historic evacuation mission carried out by India during the Russia-Ukraine war. The story is expected to explore the challenges and human experiences surrounding the massive operation that helped evacuate Indian citizens stranded in the war zone.

The film has already commenced shooting in Georgia, while Mohanlal is expected to join the sets soon. The makers have planned an extensive 180-day shooting schedule, with filming taking place across Poland, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Delhi, Dehradun and Kochi.

Mohanlal Joins an Impressive Pan-Indian Cast

Alongside Mohanlal, the film features a strong ensemble cast, including Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal, Adil Hussain, Bhagyashri Borse and veteran Tamil actor Parthiban. With performers and technicians from Bollywood and international cinema coming together, the movie is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious productions from Sree Gokulam Movies.

‘Operation Ganga’ marks the third directorial venture of Vishnu Mohan, who made a notable impact with his debut film ‘Meppadiyan’, which earned him a National Award.

Big Names Behind the Camera

The technical crew further underlines the scale of the project. Renowned composer Shashwat Sachdev, who recently delivered the music for the pan-Indian blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’, is composing the film’s music.

Cinematography is handled by Miroslav Kuba Brozek, known for his work on ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ and ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’. Action choreography comes from Se Young Oh, who has worked on films such as ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Kill’.

The production team includes acclaimed production designer Rajeevan, known for films including ‘GOAT’, ‘Meiyazhagan’, ‘Amaran’ and ‘Kathanar’, while Shameer Muhammed is the editor.

National Award-winning sound designer Bishwadeep Chatterjee, whose credits include ‘Dhurandhar’, ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Padmaavat’, is handling the sound design. K. V. Sanjith, the VFX supervisor of ‘Kantara’, is also part of the technical team.

Military advisor Squadron Leader Verlin Panwar, who has worked on projects such as ‘Safed Sagar’, ‘Border 2’ and ‘Fighter’, is associated with the film to bring authenticity to its military backdrop.

The remaining crew includes costume designer Melvy J, known for ‘Lokah’, makeup artist Ronex Xavier, and production controller Rinni Divakar.

With its large-scale subject, extensive international shoot and impressive cast and crew, ‘Operation Ganga’ is already emerging as one of the most ambitious Malayalam projects in production.

Sree Gokulam Movies is simultaneously backing several other major projects, including Suresh Gopi’s ‘Ottakkomban’, Jayasurya’s ‘Kathanar’, and ‘Killer’, directed by S. J. Suryah.

With Mohanlal at the centre of a story inspired by a historic Indian mission and a team of acclaimed technicians from across the country, ‘Operation Ganga’ promises to be a major pan-Indian cinematic spectacle.
