Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam leader Vijay paid tribute to social reformer Periyar on his birth anniversary by visiting the Periyar memorial and laying a wreath, a gesture that has gained significant attention online. Vijay's actions, coupled with comments from Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, have ignited discussions in political circles about the actor’s future in politics.
His visit to the Periyar memorial has prompted political commentators to suggest that Vijay may be signalling his alignment with the Dravidian movement. When asked about Vijay’s tribute to Periyar, Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin remarked, "In Tamil Nadu, no one can enter politics without acknowledging Periyar. My congratulations to my friend Vijay."
In response to a question about the role of a Deputy Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi added, "All ministers serve as strong support for the Chief Minister. Ultimately, any decision is made by the Chief Minister, and his decision is final." Notably, a grand event was conducted by CM Stalin, Udhay and other DMK members to honour Periyar and other leaders yesterday.
