ZEE5, India’s leading OTT platform, continues its mission to support authentic, rooted storytelling from the heartlands of the Telugu states with its latest web series, Mothevari Love Story. Directed by Shiva Krishna Burra, this rural dramedy is all set to premiere exclusively on ZEE5 on August 8, and the excitement is already sky-high.

Starring YouTube sensation Anil Geela and Varshini in lead roles, the series unfolds in the village of Arepalli in Telangana. It follows the endearing tale of Parshi (Anil Geela), a simple villager who falls in love with a girl from a neighboring village. However, their innocent romance spirals into a comedic and emotional rollercoaster when two elderly men’s feud over land disrupts their lives.

The show also features Muralidhar, Sadanna, Sujatha, and others in prominent roles. Mothevari Love Story is produced by Madhura Sreedhar and Sriram Srikanth, with Charan Arjun composing the music, Sreekanth Arupula handling cinematography, and Anil Geela doubling as editor and executive producer, along with Sriram Prashanth.

At a grand preview event in Hyderabad, the first four episodes were screened to a packed house of media and select audiences, receiving a tremendous response. The event was graced by renowned philanthropist Kandakatla Siddu Reddy as chief guest, who praised the series saying,

“Mothevari Love Story doesn’t feel like a web series—it feels like cinema. These creators have captured the soul of Telangana’s heartland.”

Lead actor Anil Geela got emotional while sharing,

“This is not a six-month effort—it’s an eight-year journey. Our My Village Show team worked selflessly. Thanks to Madhura Sreedhar garu, the project gained momentum. On August 8, all seven episodes will premiere. I’m sure our rural audiences will drive ZEE5 subscriptions this year.”

Actress Varshini added,

“I thank Shiva garu for believing in me. I’m excited for viewers to see our story unfold.”

Producer Madhura Sreedhar Reddy expressed his admiration for the cast:

“ZEE5 backing rooted stories like this is remarkable. Every actor shines—especially Sadanna. I’m also thrilled to see Charan Arjun evolve from Sneha Geetham days to composing music for this show.”

Co-producer Sriram Srikanth shared his vision,

“This began as a solo production, but ZEE5’s involvement took it to another level. With artists like Charan and Anil, we’re slowly building a Pixar-like banner from a village.”

ZEE5 Telugu’s Vice President Deshraj Sai Teja explained the platform’s vision,

“Telugu has many dialects, and every region deserves its story. We want to spotlight creators from every corner, starting with Anil and My Village Show. We’re also launching a writers’ room to nurture talent across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.”

Music Director Charan Arjun said with a smile,

“People ask me why I don’t work with big stars. Now I can say I’ve worked with a future star—Anil. In this show, everyone is a hero.”

Other cast and crew members also shared heartfelt messages:

Cinematographer Srikanth Arupula: “We’ve been working tirelessly. This project is close to all our hearts.”

Lyricist Ganguprasad: “This was my first opportunity, and I’m grateful to Anil and Shiva for trusting me.”

Actress Manasi: “Though I’m not fluent in Telugu, Shiva trained me in the dialect with great care.”

Actor Raju: “This is my first project with ZEE5, and I’m thrilled to be part of such a grounded story.”

Actor Sadanna: “I feel blessed. I hope many more rural stories come out after this.”

Actor Ravichandra: “I’m a priest by profession. Thanks to Anil for giving me a role. Everyone in this team has a bright future.”

With heart, humor, and authenticity at its core, Mothevari Love Story is already being hailed as a game-changer in regional storytelling. All eyes are now on its August 8 premiere on ZEE5, as audiences gear up to experience a slice of rural Telangana, brought alive with love and laughter.

The team also interacted with the media after the screening. Here are the excerpts:

The show feels like a film. Was it ever considered for theatrical release?

Anil: It was a pre-approved web series script by ZEE5, but we always dreamt of making content for the big screen. That’s why it feels cinematic—thanks to Charan Arjun’s music and Srikanth’s visuals.

What sets Mothevari Love Story apart from other village-based stories?

Anil: Three things—raw performances by non-actors, cinematography that feels cinematic, bringing out the true visuals of rural Telangana, and authentic dialects spoken naturally.

How do you feel about the journey from YouTube to OTT and now toward cinema?

Anil: It’s been possible only because of the team’s and audience’s unwavering support.

What are ZEE5’s future plans for regional content?

Deshraj Sai Teja: While we are known for thrillers, we want to explore multiple genres. Mothevari Love Story is set in Karimnagar. Our next projects will be based in Nellore and Bhimavaram, capturing different backdrops and introducing new talent.
