Recently, Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja issued a legal notice to the producers of 'Manjummel Boys' for using the 'Kanmani Anbodu' song without obtaining his approval. This caused a stir in the film industry. 'Manjummel Boys' is a sensational blockbuster about a group of boys rescuing their friend from a pit in the 'Gunaa' caves, Kodaikanal.
The movie team used the 'Kanmani Anbodu' song because the story is related to Kodaikanal and the 'Gunaa' caves. One of the film's producers, Shawn Antony, opened up about this issue in a recent interaction with The News Minute. He said that they had acquired all the rights from the two music companies for using the 'Kanmani Anbodu' song.
The legendary composer asserted in his notice that he is the primary owner of all his original musical works and thus holds moral rights, over them. He accuses the creators of "Manjummel Boys" of unlawfully using his song without obtaining the necessary consent, permission, or license. The legal notice states that merely crediting him in the title cards does not suffice as a substitute for proper authorization.
