It's known that novelist Sharath Chandra had moved the Nampally court alleging that his serial 'Chacchentha Prema', published in the weekly 'Swathi', was plagiarized into 'Srimanthudu' by Koratala Shiva and his producers. The novelist's lawyer had argued that a case be filed under both the Copyrights Act and Section 120B of the IPC to the effect of charging the accused with criminal conspiracy.

After due scrutiny, the Hon'ble court has admitted the plea. It has issued a notice on Mahesh Babu (the owner of MB Creations), Yerneni Naveen of Mythri Movies, and director Koratala Shiva. These three have been ordered to appear in the Nampally court on March 3rd.

Sharath Chandra had earlier said in a TV interview that he and his family members were fans of Mahesh, but that was a personal matter. His fight was for the sake of the writers' community, he had said.
