A man in Mumbai's Kandivali has been arrested for murdering his younger brother who stepped outside during the nationwide coronavirus lockdown.
The deceased man, identified as Durgesh, allegedly stepped out of his house amid the nationwide lockdown over the novel coronavirus despite repeated warnings from his brother not to do so. Upon his return, the accused, Rajesh Laxmi Thakur, and his wife reprimanded Durgesh for his act. In a fit of rage, Rajesh attacked his brother with a sharp object. "When Durgesh got back home after his outing, the accused and his wife shouted at him and a heated argument ensued, following which the accused attacked him with a sharp object," an official reportedly stated.
Durgesh was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but was declared brought dead. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
