Maharashtra Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad has tested positive for coronavirus. After an initial test on April 13 which came negative, the 54-year-old had self quarantined and later, tested again after many people around him were positive, and yesterday it was revealed that he has tested positive now.
Jitendra was home quarantined with 15 members of his family for a week after few of his security staff tested positive for coronavirus. As per reports, Jitendra had contracted the virus after meeting a senior police inspector of Mumbra police station to discuss the lockdown and the police officer tested positive for Coronavirus last week.
This particular police officer is said to have carried out an operation to find Tablighi Jamaat members in Mumbra and nabbed 21 foreign nationals including 13 Bangladeshi and 8 Malaysian nationals. The test results of these Tablighi Jamaat members had come negative, and hence it has been suspected that the police officer might have contracted the infection from Mumbra residents who were infected. Some of the people who were in contact with Jitendra Awhad and tested positive include five bodyguards, house helps, cook and few of his party workers.
