Director Mysskin had last directed the detective thriller Thupparivalan starring Vishal, Prasanna in lead roles, and the movie was released in 2017. After the commercial success of the movie, Mysskin has completed Psycho with Udhayanidhi Stalin which is getting ready for release.

It was announced before few months that after Psycho Mysskin will be starting his next movie which will be the sequel to Thupparivalan, and now it has been revealed that Thupparivalan 2 will be shot in London and the team is planning a 45 days schedule.

Thupparivalan 2 is produced by Vishal himself in his Vishal film factory, and he will be joined by Prasanna again. The movie will have Isaignani Ilaiyaraja scoring music, making it his first movie starring Vishal in lead role. The first part also had Vinay, Andrea, Simran, Bhagyaraj, and the cast of Thupparivalan 2 is yet to be announced.
